Umpiring

The Club is proud of the many people who volunteer to support our players in roles such as Manager, Coach, Umpire, and other support functions.

All officials of NetSetGo and Junior netball are asked to sign a Working with Children declaration prior to the start of the season.

All netball teams must supply an umpire for every match of the appropriate level for their grade. For NetSetGo matches, umpires must be at least 15 years old and usually umpire alternate matches (ie matches where their team is listed first on the fixtures sheet).

Anyone can become an unbadged netball umpire, provided they have a valid exam pass prior to taking the court. GSC pays teenage umpires for each match umpired - please email the Netball Convenor for more information.

Umpiring requirements:

  1. All umpires must sit the All Australia Umpires Exam online and the pass of 70% is valid for 6 years. The link for the exam is https://learning.netball.asn.au/Auth/Login?ReturnUrl=%2f and please write "Northern Suburbs" as your association. Please provide a copy of your pass to the Netball Convenor prior to the start of the season.
  2. GSC is keen to support the development of our umpires for their own and the Club's benefit by encouraging all umpires to attain the next level of umpiring. If you are currently an unbadged Junior umpire, for example, we would prefer that you aim for a Junior Level 2 grade within the season.

Umpiring courses and information:

The NSNA runs a number of Level 1 Umpire Accreditation Courses during the winter season - we will update the website for these courses as they are published.

The latest NSW rulebooks are available on request from the Netball Convenor.

GSC prides itself on ensuring that its members have a fun and safe sporting experience. Its Member Protection policy sets forth the Club’s core values, Code of Conduct, responsibilities, complaints procedure and disciplinary actions. Please direct any enquiries regarding this policy to the Member Protection Officer.

Thank you once again for your support and we hope you have a wonderful netball season!
