Netball - NSNA Response to COVID 19 situations

Dear NSNA Community
As you're aware, our 2020 Season is suspended until further notice from the Government who will advise a date it is safe to resume team sport activities in the wake of COVID-19. When we are advised of a date we will mobilise quickly and bring you a 2020 netball season. Currently the Public Health Order stating no events over 500 people is in place until 23 June however, as you'd be aware, this situation changes daily and we live in hope it might be repealed earlier.
Netball NSW have advised they will provide an update on 15 April at which time we will all be better positioned to know more with regard to finances as we all wait to see how the situation surrounding COVID-19 evolves.
Should social distancing and crowd congregation bans extend beyond 23 June 2020 then we will reassess how the competition would look and already have a few ideas and are poised to mobilise swiftly as soon as the Govt informs us. Should we not even be able to run a comp of more than 8 weeks we will work with clubs to refund the NSNA component of fees from 2020. NNSW have not at this stage released any information regarding the refunding of their fees, but we will keep you informed as information is released. Clubs will also no doubt be advised via Service NSW about the protocol around Active Kids rebates paid. To date no information has been released surrounding this, but again as we receive information, we will continue to share with all of you.
There are many planned calendar events that are now postponed until further notice – we will continue to update our members with information as it comes to hand.

As foreshadowed in our previous communications, the NSNA Executive met last night to consider the impact of the COVID-19 situation on the commencement of our 2020 Winter Competition. At the same time, Netball NSW issued a statement in relation to this.
NSNA has adopted the strong recommendation of Netball NSW which is that all community netball competitions in NSW be suspended until 2 May 2020. I will forward the memo from Netball NSW in an email following this but this suspension applies to all netball activity – playing, training, grading, umpire training etc at all levels up to and including Metro League/Regional League.
Given this recommendation and consistent with advice from the NSW Department of Health, we confirm the NSNA competition is currently suspended until 2 May 2020. A further update is expected from Netball NSW on 15 April 2020 and we will in turn provide a further update to Clubs after that time.
Given the nature of the strong recommendation of Netball NSW and that it covers all level of netball activity, we need to advise that if Clubs choose to train contrary to this recommendation they will be doing so at their own risk.
We know that this is very disappointing news as we have all been looking forward to a great season. In addition, as we know everyone appreciates, the situation is evolving day by day. We will keep you updated both on further developments and also how this will impact the structure of the competition going forward. We appreciate your patience at what we know is a very difficult time for many.
